The Journey Begins

If you want to become a writer you must start somewhere but most importantly you must start! People will doubt you and you will most certainly doubt yourself. You will hear countless voices within your own head telling you that you are not good enough. You may feel embarrassed by the type of writer you want to become or your general writing style. Let me ask you this? Does that writing give you joy? Does it stir something deep within you that makes you feel like you belong? Do you feel like you are meant to be doing this very thing ? You may write raunchy love scenes, gruesome murders and feel some sort of shame depending on your upbringing or cultural background. Family and friends may not support you on this journey but it is not their journey to begin with… its yours.

The only thing stopping you from becoming a writer is that very real fear you feel which is failure. Yes failure is scary and it makes you feel perhaps not worthy of being something or someone. But let me tell you something which I had to tell myself over and over again. Not writing because of having a fear of failure is failure itself. There are countless stories of very famous authers who were not given a hope in hell from anyone. Stephen King and J.K Rowling to name a few were turned down countless times from publishers and yet today they have become two of the most influential writers in their genres of our time. Its not what you are that defines you but what you do and how you keep doing the things that make you happy. You wont get anything negative from this site or the community of writers who are willing you on to create something magical from within your mind. I want my fellow writers, bloggers, poets or whatever creative thing you do to start your journey today. One day at a time, one word at a time and before you know it you will have that novel , short story or book of poems. Believe in yourself and just create what makes you happy. Words can shape and change the world and you can be apart of it

So my fellow writers what are you going to do? Are you going to worry about what people think of you or are you going to do something for yourself. You can change your life and perhaps even the world one word at a time. Start imagining, start creating but most importantly start something. Go on, I dare you.

Good company in a journey makes the way seem shorter. — Izaak Walton
